Thank God for slow driving and no oncoming traffic. A small girl about two years old was playing near the curb with a small boy around three. Their mother and another lady were busy chatting about 10 feet away. My spirit told me to slow down as I watched the children and approached the area they were playing. As soon as I stepped on the brake the little girl darted into the middle of the street and like a confusef squirrel headed directly for the truck. I quickly swerved in what would have been on coming traffic slammed my brakes and blew the horn to get her attention. Everything went into slow motion and she fell head first inches from my front tire. The women stood there mouths wide open frozen with terror. They couldnt move all the while the little boy was standing in the middle of the street. In what seemed like minutes but Im sure were seconds the little girl popped up and ran to her STILL frozen mother, scared to death a little dusty but okay. I pulled my truck over to check on her ONLY to be met with two evil glares from the women. I just shook my head and prayed for those childrens future. *Parents we must do better. If you dont want children dont have them. Children require ALL of our time and attention. Please treat them as the precious jewels they are.
