Thank God the cops recovered my scooter. Have to do something because the ignition is messed up and as it is now, ANYONE can walk off the street and steal it with no effort. The police asked me if I want to press charges. This brings me to a crossroads Id HATE to send another black male - or any, human being, really, to jail. I just- I dont believe our prison systems are effective methods of reform. BUT, this was a group effort, the guy who they caught riding my bike, may not have been the one who stole it. But he was in on it, which means hes done this before.. wouldnt it be better if at least he was off the streets? They recovered two bikes off of him. The concerned humanist in me wants to drop the charges, glad to have the bike back. But the irritated victim in me is agitated it took the better part of an hour and me re-jamming a screwdriver into my already messed up ignition to get the bike home. Sigh. Either way, praise God my bike is back.
