Thank You for God’s Help. It seems that each day brings something unexpected. Today I have four appointments – Radiation treatment, oncology visit, hearing lab for testing and the ear doctor’s office for evaluation of the acoustic neuroma and the other “good” ear. There is concern for those on Cisplatin that they can permanently lose their hearing. The doctor says she wants to do a quick procedure because, by the weakness of my voice and the cough, she fears I may have a paralyzed vocal cord. So I undergo the procedure, and indeed, my left vocal cord is paralyzed… according to the doctor, permanently. I may not be able to sing again. My grandson Craig says “They don’t know you Grandma. You’ll sing again!” My friend Chulani says the same. Inside, I feel that I will because I must! And with God’s help, I will! When I crushed both elbows in 1997 or so, I was told by one doctor “You may never use your right arm again.” I use it every day because even in my cast back then, I stuck my fingers out every day and played the piano. I’m not ready to quit or give up! And beside that tidbit of news, the really good news is that my right ear is still perfect! Thank You for God’s Help. God bless this day and all who walk into it.
