Thank goodness all the election ads that see how far they can go - TopicsExpress

Thank goodness all the election ads that see how far they can go to insult our intelligence, is about the end!! BUT...there is still one issue that is totally annoying me, but its not gonna stop for about two months. Im speaking about all the conversation, debates, discussions, jibber-jabbert, etc. in regards to college football ratings, especially the four qualifiers for the playoffs. What a farce...but, a marketing gem!! For five decades, the top teams were chosen to play in several bowl games. The big four bowls were the Rose, Orange, Sugar and Cotton bowls. Lesser, but still venues with quality teams were the ...the Gator, Independence, Sun and later on, the Fiesta. All football fans watched all these games...picking their favorite teams in each for pride, braggin rights, wagering purposes or just because you like a certain teams uniforms. The Associad Press chose the No. 1 team at the conclusion of the season. They were usually pretty close to always being correct, but of course, fans argued over who they thought was No. 1. THAT WAS THE FUN OF being a college football fan. Then, came along one bowl game deciding the National Champion. Yes, I agree that most years Ive felt the two best teams were picked to play in this game for all the marbles....however, it has diminished the excitement of the other bowl games, IMO. Sure, true fans still get excited of their respective teams, but not as much over other teams, unless its the title matchup. NOW!! .....four teams will be picked to play for the coveted title of the countrys best team. Will the team who wins this years playoff really be the best team in the country? Maybe so....maybe not. The Top-20 or so teams are so close, that virtually any team is capable of beating one of the others. Just look at the results and scores the past couple of weeks! Or, how about the NFL? A team can lost big to an opponent and then a few weeks later, beat that same team. There are so many variable in the game of football! I think I understand the game of football as well as most, and I have no freakin clue who is the best. I believe I know who are among the best, but the best Hell no!!! And neither do the pretty guys with the $1,000 suits and $200 haircuts on TV!! But yet, millions of viewers buy into every word uttered on ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, etc. The key word being buy...because that what the sponsors, who spend millions to pay these networks, hope you do with their products.
