My kids love it tho...SMH CANCELED!: Nickelodeon Cancels Sam & Cat After One Season, Ariana Grande Writes Heartfelt Goodbye - Nickelodeon has decided to pull the plug on its very successful show Sam & Cat, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting. According to a statement issued by the network, Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat. We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them all the best. As Us Weekly notes, the one season, 40-episode show has been rife with rumors of conflict. Speculations that it will not return for a second season, despite its superb ratings, have started in April, citing a vague production hiatus note from Nickelodeon as a strong hint. Behind the scenes, rumors of salary issues ran rampant, with Jennette McCurdy supposedly claiming she was not making as much as her costar Ariana Grande. Those rumors intensified when McCurdy failed to appear at the Kids Choice Awards in March, where Sam & Cat took home the award for Best TV Comedy and Grande won for Best TV Comedy Actress. I wish I could explain everything as thoroughly as I would like to, but unfortunately a simpler explanation is all I can write, McCurdy tweeted following the awards show.
