Thank you: Elisa Jensen, Bill Page and Kim Alemian challenged me to post 3images of my work for 5 days, and to nominate someone every day to do the same, so here you go. My first post is of paintings I started in 2001 in my Dean Street studio in Brooklyn. Apocalyptic Landscape being one of the selected paintings is based on a drawing made from where I watched the attack and the fall of the Twin Towers. In an essay about this painting author and PhD Philosopher Knut Kolnar wrote (excerpt): The painting is struggling to get a grip on the immediately incomprehensible inherent in the statement I am”. It is insisting that truths about the human being exist, that a hidden wholeness is at work within each one of us, and that we are coming into being in contexts that we can only vaguely suspect...” Bombyx (jordkvinne) ,the female as subject is a favourite & ongoing subject to me. ”Melting Pot” is a painting I worked on for several years and it is based on Delacroix’s masterpiece, Women of Algiers in Their Apartment (1834).No longer in an apartment in this painting maybe but personally I had a breakthrough in that painting. When I was a student I visited the painting with Pola Wickham and drew from it at the Louvre and later I started the picture.I nominate Anne Delaney and Lex Braes
