Fratellos is the exception. This restaurant can hold its own with any restaurant in town. Its elegant, modern, and the food is outstanding. In fact, believe it or not, this meal was the best weve had after our 12 days in England. My wife had tagliatelle, which was great. I had risotto with squid ink. (OK, I know that wont appeal to everyone, but I order it whenever I can find it.). I was pleasantly surprised that the dish came with squid rings. Portions were very generous. In fact, I had to leave about a third of my serving uneaten. Service was excellent. Our waiter Vittorio was friendly, cheerful, and competent. We are flying home tomorrow, so that is that for a possible return for a second meal. My suggestion is, that if youre at the airport--not just at the Doubletree--you should make it a point to eat at Fratellos. If you live in or near Newcastle, this restaurant is worth a trip to the airport! Visited April 2014
