Thank you Lord for another day, another year… Wow! 60 years! What a life I’ve been blessed with. Today I am emotional, but most assuredly grateful… God has been good to me! As a child, turning 60 seemed like such a faraway place, a time you couldn’t even see. How did it come so fast? Regardless, I remain grateful! In my lifetime I have seen and experienced wonderfulness and tragedy, like the advent of the civil rights movement and the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawing discriminatory acts against people that look like me. I grew up fascinated with the space race and watched Neil Armstrong become the first man to step onto the moon in 1969. I witnessed American tragedy in the 60’s as well… the assassinations of JFK, Bobby Kennedy, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. I’ve outlived numerous friends and classmates, most of whom left this world too soon. I found the Lord early in my life and accepted Him as my personal Savior. I have been blessed! I fathered two wonderful children (a son and a daughter) who have blessed me with seven grand kids, and yes I even have one great granddaughter! I am blessed. I’ve had a job and I’ve worked every day of my life since I was 16, and I served my country for four years in the U.S. Air Force. I am blessed! In my lifetime, I have traveled the world. I have cruised in the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas. I have lived half way around the world. I have stood on mountain tops in Utah. I have submerged to the ocean floor off the coast of Hawaii. I have safaried at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania Africa. I have been blessed. I don’t know what God has in store for me next, but if He never does anything else for me in my life, I won’t complain… cause I have been blessed! Happy Birthday to me!
