Thank you My Brother for this piece of Information, Until otherwise proven we should take it as a rumour, for we know Our king as a builder and not a destroyer! Should it not be a rumour,we owe our king a duty to tell him who owns the building and how it came into being, and give him a thousand reason why the building cannot be destroyed, and after that if Our reasons do not make any sense, then we say long live,The King! So many years,ago...we as Ipoti Students we faced with issues of accommodation of union properties among other things, and upon our decision to proffer a lasting solution,we decided to have a place we could call our own,It was the toughest decision to be taken by a pauperized union, yet by hardwork, fervour, resilience and faith,we embarked on the journey of building a secretariat...to be the first in the whole of Ekiti to build a secretariat. Yes the journey began,we needed a piece of land,we met with the Ipoti Community Development Council under the able leadership of Prof.D.S Daramola, viced by the learned Dr D.K Omole and the Secretary was Our Brother Tunde Ogunade, who were wilfully involved, bought our idea and shared our dreams. As Old as Baba Omole was,we were trekking the length of the town to get a befitting landscape for a model Union House. After a long search upon the instruction of the then king,HRH E.O Ayeni JP,we got two places, one besides the bank, between the CourtHall and the Bank, the other is the present place occupying the Students Union Building. For us we preferred the Courthall, because students were used to that environment, but for prevailing reasons of a future bank and violent student activities,we were compelled to take the other one, even though there were occupying stalls and bus stop there. We obliged and started work on it,in other words the necessary authority was involved! As at the time of starting the clearing and pegging,we could only boast of #4,000,all the students, the youths and even Older men and women came out on the day,and we worked till the evening, everyone was happy and every parent wanted his child to be involved, everyone was praying for us. I got home that day to shed tears, for only one reason.....I was the privileged President, and for that I had expected those who would come to be those younger than me,but majority of them were my brothers and seniors, yet vthey were carrying headpans and diggers......we did it!...took us several years, sleepless nights, self labour,we were the engineers, we were the bricklayers,we made the blocks,we almost set the blocks ourselves only that we were guided by some of our fathers whom we could not afford to pay! Everyone left his or her jobs,I left school to be at the forefront....we became beggers, asking for money and beating drums around town, everyman and woman in ipoti were part of that building, every home was involved, people donated money, foods, materials and all sorts and the days went by,from the foundation laid by the Local Government Chairman and a Minister Of God,all students made the occassion,it has been the greatest event in my memory, and from the foundation laying thestruggle continued,we went far and near, slept in bush and didnt take our bath for days, we were proud of what we were doing, we were feeling great about it such that our losses didnt matter to us! And after several years, succeeding regimes came they kept the dream alive, they roofed, plastered, floored and gladly our dream became real.....we are eternally grateful to all who were involved all youth and students of Ipoti, all men and women,Prof Micheal Omolewa the greatest contributor,Mr.Sunday Awoyomi,Mr.Bisi Babalola,Baba Owoseeni among others who contributed in cash and kind, and today we are proud that Ipoti counts the first among all the towns in Ekiti to build a Union House,It is Our pride, and it is a pride we cherish! If the Kabiesi didnt know all these,we owe him a duty to tell him because he is our king and we know we have avking who listens, who respects, who loves, who builds and who does not destroy! And we say, unequivocally, no man under heaven has a right to destroy that which has been built,we built it with Our sweat and we shall,I say,we shall defend it with Our Blood! I say No to its demolition, which is suicidal...Say No too! Let everyone say No.....and let the king be guided that the building is no mans property,It belongs to all,and we must all defend it, if we dont,a wound shall be upon ur hearts, that will take time to heal! Say No!.....No to destruction!....or we fold our arms and watch what we laboured for, being destroyed while we live!
