Thank you Nicola Bach and Chas Offutt from Blackbaud and Gene Takagi, principal of NEO Law Group for an informative and fun show! Takeaways: Nicola & Chad: -- move donors from one-time to sustainers because it costs so much more to acquire new ones -- you need proper infrastructure to manage your sustainer program -- think long-term as you plan & evaluate results -- make a sustaining giving ask your default for new donors, versus one-time asks Gene: -- get to know a nonprofit before you commit to a project together -- lots of times an enforceable contract is preferred over memorandum of understanding (MOU) -- a partnership means all partners are liable for anything that goes wrong, regardless of whose fault it is -- you can unwittingly create a partnership even if you dont intend to -- hold hands before you sleep together, and use protection (thats my conclusion. Gene is too classy a guy to say that.) Next week: a female technologists panel and Amy Sample Ward. Bon weekend! -- Tony
