Thank you Rebecca Hopper! To the editor: As a 10-year resident of North Berwick, I am voting for Joshua Plante for the Maine House of Representatives this November. Due to redistricting, many of us who voted for Mark Eves last time around will now have a different choice. If you live in District 5 like me, the right choice is Joshua Plante. I have met him a couple of times, and he impressed me as an intelligent, hard-working young man who cares deeply about the people of Maine. Working as a manger at Shaw’s in 2012, he managed to run against the incumbent, and won. Rep. Plante’s voting record speaks for itself. He voted to expand Medicaid Eligibility, which it has been estimated would reduce state spending by $570 million. Though this had bipartisan support, the law was vetoed by Gov. Paul LePage. Plante also voted to restore revenue sharing, without which property taxes would have skyrocketed. Caring for other people extends to making personal sacrifices, as well. Joshua recently participated in a bone-marrow donor program, taking his personal time and enduring significant discomfort to help save a life. Plante’s opponent, Beth O’Connor, endorsed Ron Paul for president in 2012. O’Connor is solidly in LePage’s camp. Rather than doing the hard work of governing wisely, they take an ideological stance and refuse to compromise. Joshua Plante is willing to work with people on both sides of the aisle to achieve common goals. Please join me in voting to re-elect Joshua Plante this November. Rebecca Hopper North Berwick, Maine
