Thank you, Simon Cowell! Simon Cowell has promised to bring the issue of dolphin and whale captivity to a mass audience following a recent X Factor controversy. The X Factor judge issued an apology last week after it came to light that spinoff series The Xtra Factor had filmed scenes of the final six boys attending a dolphin show and swimming with the marine animals. An online petition signed more than 7,000 times was mounted against the airing of the footage, leading Cowell to order that the scenes be cut from an Xtra Factor episode. He tweeted at the time: Reading your tweets. I had no idea Xtra Factor producers filmed with dolphins. This will NOT be showed on Saturday. I think you all know my view on cruelty to animals so thank you all for your concern. Cowell addressed the matter further on Twitter on Sunday (October 5), vowing to bring the issue of dolphin and whale captivity to a wide audience with a new project. I hope to announce a project in the near future which will bring the issues of dolphins and whales in captivity to a mass audience, he tweeted.
