Thank you, Sunita Sohrabji, for writing a brave piece on a topic that all Indian-Americans will stash away in the medicine cabinet of their bathrooms: clinical depression and suicide. I think, Sunita, that if we need to make a different in the community, patients also have a responsibility to help others whose problems they may find familiar. Our community is selfish in this regard, believe. People will discuss the goriest details of their diabetes and cholesterol problems but they will not tread into this territory. Another point I wish to make is that patients who are under treatment must go back and make amends to people whom they have hurt when they were ill. I mean that depression does not absolve anyone of responsibility, humanity and civility. I rarely see anyone address this. Thanks for your pieces. Always!
