I was one of those children who grew up hungry, digging through trash bins to feed myself and my siblings, sometimes resorting to stealing food. That’s why addressing childhood hunger is my passion. For those nearly 17 million children, school lunch may be the only consistent food nutrition they can count on. It is essential that Congress sustain the food standards it set in 2010 and not diminish the nutritional value of school meals.
