Thank you, Zone 5! I’m honored to be your next representative on the Little Rock School Board! Tonight is a great moment to celebrate, but we want to build a movement in this city for public education. Tonight is only the beginning. We are heirs to a history that invites us to do great things. Too many people have labored and struggled for us to be passive about public education. We have some challenging days ahead, but there is too much promise in our wonderful city for us to despair. There are too many people to thank publicly, but I have to mention a few. I want to thank my lovely wife and daughters for putting up with me for the past few months (or years, some say). We now have more memories to share. I also want to thank the teachers and students who have supported this campaign. They will ultimately determine our success. Let’s get to work.
