Thank you all for the comments on todays post on restricting carbs. I would like to address the comment of my competition photo saying she looks bad shes gone way to far. Thank you for your opinion, as it has lead me to yet another topic I would like to address! **Negativity** When people undermine your dreams, predict your doom or criticize you remember they are telling their story, not yours. No matter, how smart, funny, kind, rich, beautiful, genuine or honest you are.. there is always going to be someone who has something negative to say. Thats reality! Before we immersed ourselves into the fitness world we both had ups and downs with body image and self contentment. I personally have been called fat, skinny, too muscular, too small.. you name it! The photo I just posted was a competition photo taken before I hit the stage. I took 12 weeks of intense training and dedication. It took physical and mental strength and the moment I walked on stage I had the BEST feeling knowing that I could do anything I put my mind to. No one knows how hard I worked behind the scenes and what I was personally going through so why focus on anyones approval but my own? I know at the end of the day I was the best I could possibly be and worked to my utmost potential even through my apparent struggles. I am proud of what I accomplished and I did it for myself.. not to win a trophy or to look hott so to be speak. I did it because I chose to focus on a positive goal while I was fighting cancer and my husbands 7 month deployment, instead of drowning in self pity. I turned my negative into positive. That is THE key to SUCCESS in life. Turn the negative energy into positive energy. The same goes for a rude gesture or comment like the one on this page. Instead of using time and energy to focus on belittling someone why dont you inspire or do something kind for someone or yourself? Also, make a note that 9% body fat for my competition is for the stage. As competitors, we also manipulate water and sodium and dont even look that way AFTER the show when we have replenished our bodies. I would never maintain a 9% typically. I am for about 15-17% depending on my goals. How do you deal with negativity? Short, tall, black, white, low body fat, high body fat.. whatever you may be is beautiful and if you want to make changes to your body learn to love it for what it is and stop listening to others for approval. It took me time to learn this but you can NEVER make everyone happy. Focus on achieving your own goals and dreams and just know that there are going to be people who will have a problem with you in one way or another at some point in time. The so called problem has nothing to do with you.. it has everything to do with THEM. You will never be able to change that. I workout and compete for me and I am damn proud of my accomplishments thus far! Affirmations are powerful! Hearing the positive comments, posts and messages from followers everyday keep me positive while fighting cancer, maintaing a career, and working part time as a fitness model and now spokesmodel for OhYeah! Nutrition. I choose to focus on the many kind words on how we are helping followers around the world reach their goals! I dont focus on the negative but accept they will come here and there since this is a public page.
