Thank you all for your love and care. I apologize if I have not gotten to you sooner but I wanted to post this before it is published in the media this week. EDITH MAY SPIREK (nee HAMPSON), age 81, passed away suddenly December 17, 2014 in Independence, Ohio. She was born in Fiskeville, Rhode Island January 24, 1933 and married to Raymond Ralph Spirek for 57 years. The adored mother of Melissa Marie Spirek (m. to Sean McClelland) loved staying current with social media and software updates. In 2008 Edith retired as the City of Independence Assistant to the Clerk of Courts where she worked after the closure of the downtown Cleveland Kaufmanns/May Company Special Events Department where she served as administrative specialist. The Fenn College attendee completed her AA degree in Early Childhood Education at Cuyahoga Community College and worked as a preschool director until 1971. A celebration of life will be held the first week of March at her favorite coffee and luncheon spot Brielles Coffee and Tea Room. At her request, her ashes will be buried at the Independence, Ohio Maple Shade Cemetery December 27, 2014 at 1 pm.
