Thank you all for your prayers! Amos had pyloric stenosis, as did - TopicsExpress

Thank you all for your prayers! Amos had pyloric stenosis, as did his oldest brother. Only Amos was twice as bad and we couldnt get the local doctors to do an ultrasound until he was dehydrated and throwing up stomach bile. He had to be taken by ambulance to the University of NC Hospital which is over an hour from where they live. The pyloric muscle is between the stomach and small bowel. Sometimes it is too thick or strong and it keeps their food from passing out of the stomach so everything keeps coming back up. Isaac my oldest grandson had it. It was very scary the first time but we were reassured it was fairly routine. Isaacs surgery went off without a hitch and he was home in a couple of days. We were expecting the same with Amos but it was not to be. The surgeon perforated his small bowel, which can be very serious. To add to the problem they are very slow about giving my daughter and son-in-law any information. Amos had to have a tube through his nose to his stomach to pull out gas, etc, so as not to place pressure on the repair. It was after 6pm when they finished with the surgery and there werent any nurses available to put in a pic line for a nutritional IV. This baby had been days w/o anything staying down because they couldnt get the local doctor to do the ultrasound. By the time they got around to putting a pic line in, over 12 hours later, they had to go through veins in his head. He has had to be in hospital since last Thursday. Yesterday they kept trying to delay the test he needed to see if the repair to the bowel worked. It has all been a test for our patience. Since the call for prayer things have been moving along well. The tubes have come out, the doctors are communicating more and hopefully he will get to go home today! So thank you to each of you for your prayers! They are being heard!
