Thank you all so much for honoring our request for privacy weekend before last. The family spent a special time together with few interruptions. However, even since then, Dad has taken a sharp decline, so an update is probably in order. He is no longer has the strength to get out of bed, and has been drinking and eating very little - with the exception of ice cream. : ) We have been doing our best to keep him comfortable. Though not very talkative, thankfully he is still responsive and has been able to retain his quick whit and sense of humor. We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support and have felt the strength of your prayers holding us up. God has been very gracious to allow us this time of preparation and transition. We ask specifically for prayers for Momma for comfort, peace and physical strength. And for Daddy the same as well as protection against bed sores or any other complications. He is receiving the best of care from Hospice as well as our long time caregivers, and we ask for strength on their behalf as well. I realize when you can’t physically be with someone who you love and care about , it is difficult not knowing their condition when things can change so fast, so I will try to do a better job of updating here on FB and my brother Dean who has taken leave from the VA to be here has a blog on his memorial website as well. (revmickeyevans.weebly/blog-updates) We would ask that calls to the house directly be kept to a minimum, but that folks rather leave a number or message with the main office at DMC 772-597-2841. Calls may be returned as we are able. Voice messages for Dad that don’t need to be returned can also be called into 561-247-2303. Thanks to all of you again who have prayed, visited, brought food, called and just loved on us in so many ways...we are eternally grateful to be loved and cared for by the Body of Christ locally and abroad. May the joy and peace of His Presence be your daily portion. Romans 15:13
