Thank you everyone who helped pretty-up the store today, and not just you who came physically, but all of you who lend your enthusiasm, good will, patience, and encouragement to this effort. Emotions have run high at times..it seems that free calls up a lot of stuff within us. But anyone who has spent real time at the Freestore knows that something truly extraordinary is going on. How can one little room with a mishmash of objects make so many people so..happy? Its boggling really. I guess its just a microcosm of the life we yearn for- more connection, more sharing, more tolerance, more gratitude. The few disputes that do arise are being handled beautifully by the core team of TTM and Freestore volunteers in a private group online and via group mediation. You are welcome to deepen your involvement any time you wish to do so. Lastly, I just want mention two teens, Anna and Katharine, who worked so hard with me Friday and THEN went home and independently designed a FreeStore flyer to share with their friends and THEN came back all day today AND donated $40. They talked about the pressure at school kids feel to wear and own expensive things. They are eager to tell their friends about their store. It is their store, and yours, and mine. Its a small place but it holds a spaciousness of spirit - where we can let go - not only of our objects, but our objectifications. Thanks again xx
