Thank you for accepting my request for membership. So that would be an R+ to my arsenal of positive clicker training tools. :) I am currently training Moose a 9month black Labrador/GSD mix I rescued from a shelter to become my mobility assistance Service Dog. My current SD is JD a 9yr old yellow lab who will be retiring next year. He too was a return to breeder/rescue at 10 months old. My husband trains for basic obedience and I get all the fun of training specific tasks such as retrieving a dropped credit card or coins, opening and closing doors, taking and delivering wrapped food items (so proud of this as JD can pick up a package of steak or cheese or anything and put it in the shopping cart or put it on the checkout counter), physical support to assist getting up from a chair or the floor, and various other tasks like removing my socks, picking up laundry from the floor to the basket. I have many years of experience training companion dogs using operant conditioning methods I had learned as part of my Special Education classes in college. I began using the clicker method upon our adoption of JD and discovering Sue Ailsbys Training Levels. Since then I studied books and techniques by Bob and Marion Bailey, Turid Rugas, Paul Owens, Karen Pryor, Ian Dunbar, Shirley Chong, and Dr. Sophia Yin.
