Thank you for all the new likes at Melissa Preston Counseling! You may have noticed I have not been posting as frequently on this page this week. My aim is to only post things that I think are of worth and could be useful for you in the education of all things eating disorder related. On that note, I never want to simply post something to clog your news feed. In the spirit of what I try to teach my clients about mindfulness, I have also attempted to be more mindful of my own actions lately.(Yes therapists need to practice this too!) What that means to me is not doing a million things at once. Noticing and putting all of my attention to each task, whether its sending an email, brushing my teeth, seeing a client, or posting on facebook :) When I do any of these things, that is ALL I am doing. I am not brushing my teeth and posting to facebook at the same time. When I do that, it ruins the experience of both of them. This means that I often dont get as much done as I could if I did several things at once. But the experience of doing one thing at a time, no matter how mundane it might be (who really wants to spend time brushing their teeth?!) allows me to actually experience the simpleness and joy of that one moment.
