Thank you for all the warm wishes and sweet comments on here and in person, about our 20 year anniversary! Lots of things have changed thru the years, (especially our appearance!), but one thing has stayed the same for sure - the love and support of our family and friends! Yall will notice I didnt force BJ into a tux - but he did get to wear a shirt my momma, Juanita Turpin, was kind enough to make, (along with the groomsmens shirts, and the dresses for my attendants). She also worked with me on the flowers - and by worked with me, I basically mean she made them! My sweet friend Hazel Slusher Rutrough helped me make my veil and her wonderful daughter, Brenda spend hours working on my makeup and hair! She was a little shocked when she got to the church and saw that long, STRAIGHT hair, because when I left her house, it was nice and curly! My hair, it seems, does not hold curl! So she fixed me up the best she could on short notice - we just left it straight! And, my lovely dress was worn by Joyce Slaughter when she married Lonnie somewhere in the neighborhood of 27 or so years before. That was quite the honor for me! My sidekick for the day (keeping me calm and focused), was Becky Shaver, who also helped me hide my car down on the Slaughter farm. Also supporting me that day were my sister Rebecca Alls, and my partner in crime since kindergarten, Christie Weddle. BJ had DJ Chaffin, Mark Harris, and his brother Matt Chaffin to keep him from running away, (thanks guys). Our little people were Samantha Turpin, Vicki Turpin and David Belcher, with little Steven Belcher in the sidelines looking sharp too! Since my Dad officiated, (let me tell you that was hard for me to keep the tears back, when I could see them in his eyes!), my big brother Tim walked me down the aisle. I had to stop the water works quickly though, so I was able to sing the song Id written for the occasion, with the one and only Coach Joel Pratt accompanying me on the guitar. We did have a backup plan, for Coach to press play on the tape player if I shook my head No, cause a girl can get pretty emotional on her wedding day! BJ had no clue about this part, so I got to surprise him and I made it thru the song! Coach also sang I Cross My Heart during the ceremony and Diane Keith was an absolute treasure providing the remainder of our music by piano. Vona Weddle and Butch Goad provided their skills as photographers. Many others, including Susan Tanner, Renea Payne, Kesha Basham Belcher, Melissa Goad Branscome, Linda Mitchell and others too numerous to name, made our day perfect. All of these folks are still so very special to us today, so Id say our life together has been blessed to have started out with the best group of friends God could provide! And, He has placed so many new people in our life over the years that really help us feel blessed over and over, day by day! Thank you all again!
