Thank you for allowing me in the group. This is Shasta. He is an 11 yr old shepherd. Yesterday, he collapsed at my house. I rushed him into the ER and they found his spleen was ruptured with large amount of blood in his abdomen. They also told me there was a spot on the lung Xray. The choice was remove the spleen or euthanize. Since I had no idea he had this prior I was in complete shock. I called his regular vet who said if it was a lesion that meant it had probably spread and that he might only live 30-60 days. I asked the ER vet what was the spot and he said he couldnt tell. He thought removing the spleen would go well. He crashed after surgery...he is on oxygen, had two blood transfusions, has heart arrhythmia and basically not doing well. This morning I was ready to put him down when I went in but he lifted his head, and I couldnt. I am waiting to hear back from them. If he can get off life support I can take him home...I just cannot keep him at the ER longer. Any thoughts anyone, I am desperate.
