Thank you for allowing me to join your Group. John of Gaunt is responsible for the Wars of the Roses because he fathered illegitimate children he named Beaufort. His daughter, Joan Beaufort was caught in the middle since her daughter married Richard York Plantagenet. Have a hit a nerve here? My focus and education have always been Americas history and that is where my heart is also. However, when I met John of Gaunt through genealogy in the early days of the internet, I must say I absolutely fell in love. As early European political history reared its head in my brain during the early 1990s, my alma mater offered me internships in England. An illness kept me home 25 years ago, but Im planning a 2015 journey to my homeland. Through FB groups and a huge library, Ive become so eager to know all I can learn of my family roots and to sort through what is true about the family of John of Gaunt.
