Thank you for allowing me to join your group, there are some amazing stories on here. Here is the outline of my ancestors who were placed in a Barnardos Home in the UK. My great Aunt Edith French was forced to place her three children with them after the death of her husband in 1911. In 1920 Mabel Edith Beatrice was sent to Canada aged 15 and in 1923 Irene and Peter were sent to Australia. Mabel married James Francis Kelly in 1936 in Winnipeg and we think had two sons Bobby and James and spent their lives in Winnipeg. From the scraps of info I have, I believe Mabel had a relatively good life in her early years in Canada - in comparison to some who were treated really badly. I am in touch with the Australian side of the family and our hope is that we can eventually contact members of Mabels family. Hope this post is OK admin, thank you.
