Thank you for the add I am after some advice on how to cope with my new dog. He is a german shepherd cross and he is from a rescue centre he is the most loving affectionate dog with such a playful character but at night time he changes and becomes so scared. He barks like a rabid dog if a car door goes or if he hears a knock and it takes us ages to calm him down. He is so calm if one of us is there but we keep him in the kitchen at night while we sleep and he cries and scratches at the door for ages before he quietens down.the other day I went to light a candle on the mantle piece and he went ballistic at me. He has no aggression and is absolutely fine during the day but something has happened to make him like this at night. How do I persuade him that he is safe and ok and stop him crying when we put him to bed ???
