Thank you for the fine opportunity to join the esteemed Sand Pebbles Appreciation Society. Robert Wises movie has, for me at least, been a memorable and driving force in my life. As a younger man in the military I was fortunate enough to have traveled extensively throughout the Far East to Korea, Okinawa, Taiwan, and even mainland China. I was even acquainted with people who had actually been right there in Hong Kong for the actual filming of the movie in 1966. Their own first-hand accounts were of course riveting.
