Thank you for the wonderful messages, Im very overwhelmed. I still feel in a dream world & cant believe we completed what Mimi and I planned for 2 years. My body is now sore - it must know it is time to stop (& Im guessing the glasses of champas at Ryan & Vanessas wedding afterwards has helped with that). Being a passenger in a car seems quite unnatural - it moves so quickly ;) Mimi & I had lots of time to reflect yesterday on why we started this run in the first place. Having the opportunity during our 32 days to run through rural villages & see girls that would be in need of the social enterprise we are helping Save the Children fund, made it very real for us. So many of you have been incredibly generous with your support, but I would love it if you could support us once more through donating here https://donate.savethechildren.org.au/FreedomRunners. Big/small it doesnt matter - we are close to making this happen but we are not there yet. At 7:40am Monday morning (Aust EST) we will be on Sunrise. You will get to see some of the beautiful places we visited & people we met - captured by Tyler Young & Tom. Below are some photos of our last day. The hardest 10kms Ive ever encountered, which took us 6 hours to cover. Sounds ridiculous but there was absolutely no path - we were ducking, weaving & getting our legs shredded through endless thorn; and stepping over big boulders & through waist high cold water. My legs are still on fire from the cuts. We were blessed to have epic views & the knowledge we were among approx 200 people to have ever gone through there to put in perspective the immense difficulty. We passed the site of a plane crash from 50 years ago where 13 people died. There was so many pieces of the aircraft all over the place, quite a somber moment for us all. South Africa is an incredible place. We saw so much diversity & change as we ran from PMB to Paarl, from the landscape to the people. I believed I could do this run, (despite the fact my experience was more limited than Mimis). However, I never imagined I would get stronger as the days passed. I put that down to my crew & particularly being able to having Mathieu with me the entire time AND believing in why I was doing it. Time to learn how to relax.. Not sure quite how, but Im told practice makes perfect.
