Thank you for your comments. We greatly appreciate your concern and passion for our Aztec Softball program. The fencing was removed from the Riverside Park field because it was not in good condition and is a hazard to anyone using that field. The backstop is still in place and the field can still be utilized for practicing without the fencing around the outfield. The baseball programs do have more fields but they also have greater participation and have maintained a consistent presence in the City for a number of years. However, we will ensure that every Aztec softball team that wants to practice in Aztec will have sufficient time and space to practice. Title IX does in fact provide for equal opportunity for both boys and girls and I assure you the City of Aztec is dedicated to all of our youth athletic programs. Commissioner Sipe has pushed for additional softball fields within the City and we are currently working to develop a high quality softball complex. This plan will not occur in the near future without the appropriate funding and local participation but it is something that is very important to our Commission and staff. Joshua W.
