Greetings, My wife Susan and I are most pleased to donate this prayer rug to the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center for use wherever you consider most appropriate. I acquired the rug in Antalya, Turkey, in May of 1970 when I was visiting there as a US Navy officer on the destroyer USS Greene (DD-711) which was hosted by the Turkish Navy as part of a joint NATO Task Force. In the enclosed photo, I am second from the left. My Turkish host is first on the left, and the proprietor of the carpet shop where I bought the carpet is third from the left. The other men in the photo simply joined in the photo when they saw it happening. It was a most friendly and happy occasion! My wife and I are down-sizing now that we are older and believe that the rug belongs with your organization. We wish you and your organization peace and good fortune. Inshallah.
