Thank you for your prayers this week as I accompanied two of my long-time friends on a trip to Guatemala. God moved while we were with Corbey and the staff at Kids Alive Oasis and Source of Hope kidsalive.org/around-the-world/latin-america/guatemala/?Source=M143BOFCBK. The biggest challenge to me this week came from an 11-year old girl. We went into one of the worst slums in Guatemala City to deliver a birthday gift to a girl who was reunited with her mom after being at the Kids Alive Oasis kidsalive.org/around-the-world/latin-america/guatemala/?Source=M143BOFCBK. She received a gift bag with a shirt, socks, journal, shampoo, and a small pack of gum. She was very excited to receive this gift while we were with her in the tiny upstairs apartment she shares with her mom and younger brother. Apartment isnt a good way to describe the place. It had a rough concrete floor, two bare light bulbs, a bunk-bed, someones discarded mattress on the floor, cheap plastic dishes, a water filter from Kids Alive, and a two-burner portable gas stove. The entire place was a little bigger than a parking spot for 1 car. The big challenge to me came when this girl, with basically nothing, gave a piece of her gum to me, my two friends, and Corbey. Four of her precious seven pieces of gum she gave to strangers. As we left, I asked Corbey how often she got gum and he said, not very often. What amazing generosity! -Rich Whats precious to you today and are you prepared to share what you have with a stranger?
