It has been nearly four weeks since I started VERTREK Facebook and I like to share how it is going and the responses VERTREK is getting. On average there have been five likes per day and 600 clicks every day that increases to 1000 clicks on Saturday and Sundays. Iam getting excited as the time for the launch is getting nearer. You will be able to purchase it in time for Christmas in either a hard or soft copy or an E Book. This week the editors are sending me the complete edited version and cover design for me to sign off. The snippets you have been reading have been unedited..You got to read the raw version -:) I continue to thank and be very grateful to my many face book friends for their encouragement and support. I hope to reach four hundred likes this weekend, only five likes to go. I have done an analysis of the likes. Out of 395 likes only twenty are Dutch people and 13 are from The Netherlands. As the figures point out the Dutch in Australia have mainly assimilated themselves out of existence. One of the reasons why I wrote VERTREK is to ensure a record of the Dutch heritage contribution to building Australia continues.May be I should try harder and reach them, the Dutch Clubs are diminishing fast in Australia and many are not connected to social media that could be b indicative of their age. The likes analysisshow 105 Asian friends, all recent arrivals to Australia. Second generation Italians gave 66 likes and young Iranian migrants gave 38. The Australian friends top the lot with 156 likes including in this are 32 Indigionous Australians, VERTEK forges a real bond with Australias Aboriginal people. The RSL is looking at publishing the chapter on the Original Australian Anzacs whom I met at the letterboxes when I was a postman at Portarlington in The 1960s.
