Thank you so much for the very large response and concern about the recent vandalism at Hampton Park. We certainly do not want to stifle conversation, but we felt like the previous post lost its focus, namely, to inform our people of an incident and to help them see these actions are coming from someone hurt or angry who needs some help, not a scolding. Vandalism is illegal, and they will need to deal with that should they get caught, but our role is to be sure we are approachable so that others who are angry or hurt need not display their desire to be heard in similarly inappropriate ways. In the comments there were some assumptions made concerning the motives or people groups behind the vandalism. The fact is, we don’t know. These speculations resulted in some tensions. Rather than pick and choose which comments to remove or keep, we decided to replace the post in an effort to reiterate Hampton Park’s response to this matter. Again, thank you for the overwhelming interest, concern, and interaction.
