Thank you to All Veterans today. I need to specifically thank my mom and dad. My mom is 91 years young and still working part time. That says a lot right there, but she served in WWII as an Army nurse. She went to Germany, rode on the Queen Mary, gave lots of version 1.0 penicillin shots and took care of wounded warriors. She also served as a prison guard at the Nuremberg trials. My dad Richard Lesser Havens passed away a few years ago. He was Navy and lived through the Hell that was Iwo Jima. He was an amphibian driver who carried Marines to the shore back and forth ship to shore. He did not talk about that much and you can imagine why. He was on three ships that sank and would throw up at the smell of the ocean. I would too if I were days and nights in it with a life vest and nothing but miles of water. Thank you mom and dad!
