Thank you to Controller Ben Owen, Deputy Controller Dale Frankland and the crew of Emerald SES for allowing me to sit in on their meeting recently. The Emerald SES response area extends from Gembrook across to Upper Beaconsfield to South Belgrave over to Upwey up to Sassafras and Olinda then Down to Monbulk and Macclesfield and all towns in between - quite a large area to cover! They are requested for response on average 1000 times a year (an average of three times a day) for storm and flood emergencies, and I know as a resident living in an area frequently hit by storm and flood damage, Im glad to have the Emerald SES around. As a volunteer organisation, I think the SES do a phenomenal job - especially considering they are on call for emergency assistance to the community 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
