Thank you to Jenny Butler for the translation! Interview with the Greek tenor, Mario Frangoulis Im very happy that we find ourselves once more here in New York with the support of Cosmos FM, in a concert that supports the efforts of Hellenic Public Radio Cosmos FM, which has been in existence for 27 years, and I truly wish that they will reach 100 years. It loves the culture, the youth, the arts, and I believe that its important these days - when our feelings have become numb - that we should be able to give a note of love and hope to the whole world. I believe that music and songs and poetry are closely related in this effort. The concert at the Tribeca Performance Art Centre is dedicated to the work of Nikos Gatsos, one of the most contemporary, I would say, poets of our country. He has brought the Greek song to modern Greece with a more contemporary outlook, following our own great poets like Omiro, Eliti, Seferi, etc. After that came Gatsos and, of course, he wrote some of the greatest songs that have ever been written in our history, and I believe that through his songs wells up his love for our country, for the Greek people, for humanity, and he always writes about friendship, belief in love and our country, and about the human suffering. Thank you MGTV for being close to our culture here in the States, close to the Hellenic culture, close to the Hellenes, and to artists such as myself who love Greece with all our heart and support arts and culture through the work.
