Thank you to all my friends and family all over the globe for sending the sweet messages to me and my family. We all really appreciate it very much. I never lost a family member in the US and the first one I lose is the closest one to me- my beautiful Dad. He was my anchor and I was his confidante. I took care of him as he took care of me - in the best and the most loving way possible. At the end, he told me he was ready to go and I had to respect his wishes. My Mom took care of the daily burdens while I took care of the big things. While they lived in an assisted living facility that I coordinated, they still stuck together and helped one another to the last minute. Its not an easy journey sometimes, but when its time to let go- we have to let go for the sake of the person who is suffering and not for our sake. Even though I work in this field of healthcare management, its never the same when its your own parent or loved one. I did learn a great deal personally about Hospice and what quality care really means first hand. All in all, our experience was amazing. Its as if I had a guiding angel holding my hand throughout the process and they never let go. I will cherish every moment even though it still feels like a dream.
