Thank you to all the friends who walked beside me yesterday. It was THE most difficult day on record for mom and son. Ironically, it fell during Autism Awarenes Week. My son drew a photo, telling me he wished he were extinct ( xstink) like most sharks. He was sad. He reminded me of the times he had been invited to any parties/ get togethers. He and I are very close. I nurtured him, I loved him, I built him up. I fought 3 separate battles for a scholarship, Medicaid referrals, etc. I got in my bed, pulled the covers over my head and said, Damn you, Lord! Today, we woke up. I did not know what to expect. He got up and was kind and sweet, even after spring Break and the 1st day back to school with an aide and all the routine changes. Mom, while youre working on your book today, be sure to tell the whole world to watch. Im going to be somebody. Theyre all wrong. We hugged. I promised him we would color Easter Eggs in the middle of the night. He played and sang a few bars of my favorite song to me: Beth , by Kiss, on the Baby Grand. He wrote me a very long letter, expressing his love, he actually thanked me for loving him. Thank you for getting me through a difficult day. You guys are the best! I am OK today.
