Thank you to all those who signed up for our field trip to the Met - TopicsExpress

Thank you to all those who signed up for our field trip to the Met tomorrow for our 2 hour tour of the Ancient Near East (ANE) gallery. We have a lot to cover tomorrow so please arrive early - recommended time is 2:30pm so that everyone will have enough time to purchase tickets, go to coat check, bag check, etc. Also, its Sunday so it might be slightly more busy at the museum that day. When you come into the great hall of the Met at the main entrance, youll see the central information desk. Head towards the right and youll see a large pharaoh statue there - you cant miss it. Well gather together there at 3:00 sharp and then head on up to the ANE gallery. We will view 30+ artifacts in this tour - I was personally amazed how each artifact had a direct connection to the Bible. (I even had to painfully cut down on the number of artifacts to see b/c there were so many.) Well see the power of the written word and its connections with prayers against demons and diseases in ancient Mesopotamia. Delve in the origins of where God (or more specifically Yahweh) came from, and how the creation stories of Genesis directly relates to the stories told in Mesopotamia. For example, well learn what the rainbow meant in Mesopotamia and then compare it to what it meant in the Bible in the Noah narrative - its meaning is quite surprising than what most Christians have been told at church or Sunday school. Again, we have a lot of material to cover within the two hour span so we have to start immediately. If you are running a bit late, please meet us at the second floor where the ANE gallery is located. Im really excited for this trip and hope to see everyone there!
