Thank you to everyone for their thoughtful tributes, well wishes, donations and caring words after the loss of our sweet Lily. Even though I havent commented, Ive read every single post and comment and am amazed at just how many people she has touched. It still hurts to think about all that she had to endure in her short time on this planet, but am humbled to know that in 3 days she was embraced by many as their own, and that she was lucky enough to find her true family before passing on. She was beautiful inside and out, and I can only imagine how breathtaking she would be as a happy and healthy dog. We are still working out the details of our Lily fund, and once her vet bills are paid off we will be depositing any remaining funds donated in her honor there. The purpose of the fund is to help us take on high medical needs dogs from vet clinics (and shelters) who wouldnt otherwise stand a chance. Dogs like Rodney, Samantha, Timone and Ghost wouldnt be here if we didnt have the funds to cover their medical bills - which is a shame since they are all really, really nice dogs! Even though she is no longer with us in body, Lilys memory and spirit will live on as we continue with our mission to save as many dogs as we can. If love was enough, she would still be here, but sometimes saving them isnt in the cards. Maybe this was always bigger than her - that the reason she came to us was to make sure others were helped in her name. My hope is that shes enjoying her days in the big dog park in the sky. She has definitely left a pawprint on my heart, and Im honored to have hers in my office. XOXO Lily
