Thank you to everyone who sent prayers our way as our son Kaden had a scheduled appointment with his spine specialist today. After some x-rays and the eternal wait in the lobby to be called back to see the doctor, we received the news that we didnt want to hear, although I think deep down my wife and I both knew it was coming. His scoliosis has now reached a 57% curve, despite all of our best efforts with stretching and being proactive. On its current pace we could be looking at corrective surgery within six months to a year. We will meet with the doctor again in three months time. If it hasnt gotten any worse, we will follow up after another three months to keep monitoring it and so on. However, if it worsens between now and our next appointment, we could be facing a surgery before Christmas. In the long run, I know that this surgery is whats best for him and that it will prevent a LOT of other problems from occurring from failure to act on it early. But it was extraordinarily hard as a father to watch him in the recovery process from his feeding tube procedure, which will pale in comparison to this surgery. I would give anything for him to not have to go through that pain. I just wish there was an easy button. 😔
