Thank you to the small number of people who have entered the competition, sadly no one has selected the drawing I picked as the one that will win the hand painted card just yet, keep trying, youve got until midnight on December 11th/12th (UK time) to enter and you can enter as many times as you wish. Simply select one of my pencil drawings, share it on your wall with a comment and write SHARED on the original picture on this page. Now a little bit about commissions, Ive had a few requests and I am happy to do them, I never post prices openly so contact me privately and have a chat, I will do personal pictures of family, children and pets and I will also do a star portrait if you wish, please not that Star portraits will be more expensive because theres a resale value to them. The cost of the portrait is linked in with the time it takes, after all, you wouldnt like it if your boss asked you to work for ten days for £50.00 would you? The same goes for what I do, basically in a commission request you become my boss when you ask me to draw something for you. Also, the word sketch what I do isnt a sketch, sketches are normally the 50 minute scribbles I do to create illustrations. With these Pencil Portraits I attempt to create reality with a handful of graphite pencils and a putty rubber on A3 art paper, its a technique Ive taught myself over many, many years and each one is not only complicated it also takes a lot out of me every day I draw. You see the finished drawing and occasionally some work in progress photos, what you dont see is the countless hours spent in a room on my own struggling to get shading and features accurate. With every portrait I do I have a responsibility to the subject Im drawing to make it as accurate and respectful as possible. Most of my originals end up looking three dimensional, a feature that still shocks me. Finally I am working at getting prints done of my originals but theres one thing holding me back, lack of money for equipment and actual prints to sell. Ive been looking at scanners and cameras, both of these are in the high hundreds and really bring home that old saying To get money, youve got to have money Im hoping to have prints available sometime next year and Im currently looking towards photographic options as I believe this path will lead to a greater accuracy to the originals, eventually youll be able to pick a photo on my page and request a print. Hope that helps, thanks for reading and supporting my page, likes comments and shares of my work helps me and could lead to friends on your page considering commissions from me, thats why the rules of the competition are to do with sharing my artwork.
