Thank you to those of you who attended our pre-AGM last Sunday. We hope it provided a better insight into the internal workings of the CUCS Executive Committee as well as the election process. ------------------------------------------------ *Available Positions for the Election* - President - Vice President - Treasurer - Internal Secretary - External Secretary - Sports Secretary - Publication Officer All seven positions are now open for nominations. Please kindly note that all full members of the CUCS resident in Cambridge during term are eligible to stand for election. All Full Members are entitled to vote. More details are outlined below and can be found in the Constitution and Voting Regulations, which are both available upon request. *Submission of Your Manifesto* Each candidate will be asked to submit a manifesto that should not exceed one A4 page in length. We strongly recommend that you save your manifesto in pdf format for the ease of circulation. Sadly, we are not be able to guarantee the receipt of oversized files and will not entertain late submissions after the deadline. You must include the following in your manifesto: - Your Name; - Year and subject; - The Position you are running for; * * Candidates running for the role President may indicate their second preference. You may choose to include the following in your manifesto, if applicable: - Name and College of your First Nominator; ** - Name and College of Your Seconder ** N.B. It is not mandatory for all candidates to be nominated in order to stand for election. ** Both the nominator and the seconder must be a member of CUCS. You may also choose to indicate whether your nominator has previously worked for CUCS. Please note that all nominators are only allowed to give their first nomination to one candidate and one only; there are not restrictions as to the number of second nominations a full member can give. Please kindly email your manifesto to Joyce Chow ([email protected]). The deadline for submission of manifestos is 8th MARCH 2014, 11.59 P.M. We regret to inform you that late applications will NOT be considered. The incumbent committee of CUCS reserves all rights. *The Election* The election will be presided over by the outgoing president, Mr. Vincent Ko, and will be held during the Annual General Meeting. Date: Tuesday, 11th March 2014 Time: 6:00pm - 11.00pm Venue: Cripps Court Auditorium, Magdalene College Each candidate is required to attend the AGM and will be asked to deliver a speech in English, the maximum length of which is dependent on the position the candidate is running for: - 5 minutes for all candidates running for presidency; - 3 minutes for vice-presidency and all other positions. Following that, questions will be open to the floor before voting takes place by paper ballot.
