Thankful for the kindness of strangers tonight. My little Joker went missing this morning...he apparently wandered out of the yard while I was excercising the Labs. He is not one to wander off and I spent the day walking the highway, ditches and my property. Anyone who has met Mr Jo knows he is not a people pup and does not take to strangers. So I was certain the only way someone would have picked him up was if he had been hit. I admit I had pretty well given up hope that this was going to end positively. I decided to go for a run to help settle myself and a lady saw me and stopped and asked if I had lost a little dog. Yes! There were tears and Joker appeared dirty and full of stickers but no worse for his adventure. Apparently she found him sitting in the middle of the highway about a mile from my house. When she stopped to see if he was okay...he would not leave the highway but he would not let her get close either. She finally got her retriever out of the car and he decided at that point she must be okay. Thank goodness for her kindness... It would have been very easy for to just drive by and be on her way with her day. Thankful for her persistence in getting him out of danger and thankful for her going out of her way to find out who he belonged to. The Munchkin and I had someone looking out for us today. A bath and dinner and he is back to ruling the roost.
