Thanks Eileen Cramer Ferrarie for putting this on my page Focus on male breast cancer I had been reading, all during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, stories of so many women who are recovering, coping and being treated for breast cancer. Not once, not one word, did I find about male breast cancer. Yes, male breast cancer. I know that it exists. My husband, a disabled American veteran, went through finding the lumps and going to the oncologist, right here at Florida Hospital, Flagler. Having a radical breast mastectomy, removal of four lymph nodes. Waiting for the reports to come back. Thank God the cancer had not spread to the nodes. He went through full chemotherapy. Male breast cancer, which isnt talked about enough or at all, affects male self-esteem, leading to depression, withdrawal and mood swings. I know this for a fact. I cant tell you how hard it was to try and talk about his health. Why isnt male breast cancer covered in any of the articles in The News-Journal or spoken about on TV? I havent found any information that would alert the public. Look into the question of Agent Orange being a factor in male breast cancer. There are more and more cases of male breast cancer appearing. Look into contaminated lands and the surrounding areas. Men should self-examine, just as the women do. That is how my husband found his cancer, which saved his life. georgia peters Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Jim Booe Chapter 86 Flagler Beach
