Thanks God that I have recorded in my personal Journals the dates when we had met several American priests we had confessed to about our family and business unbearable economic hardship and who, in unity, concluded that, “You have something that they need!” Our obvious response was, “If they need what we have, then they have to pay for it!” You know what followed next: they used intimidation, unethical business practices such as defamation, interference with our customers’ relations, economic coercion, threats to our lives and freedoms, patent infringement, psychological harassment and much more. Their only purpose was to force us concede all our rights of intellectual property’s ownership to a corporation in return for a contract of employment. Business executive and author, Charles Handy writes in his book ‘The Elephant and the Flea’ page 87: ”More and more people are going to become aware that their knowledge has a marketable value. They will be reluctant to sell it for a time-based contract, a wage or salary. They will want to charge a fee or a royalty, a percentage of the profits. The difference is that the salary is money paid for time spent, whereas a fee is money paid for work produced, irrespective of the time spent on it.” In a nutshell, this is the Antonovs’ business story all about. We will always oppose the abusive powers of those who refuse to pay for our time, skills, ideas and experience. Who will accept otherwise?
