Thanks Illia for this. Whats not commonly known is Australia did the slavery trip too. European slave traders stole and kidnapped people from the South Sea Islands to work the cane fields. Thier stories are no less gory than the Irish or African Americans or any other slave experience. Its just plain gross. They recently found a mass grave on a sugar farm in Bundaberg from that era. The guy who owns the farm is building a shrine, which is just brilliant. I guess the difficult thing with Australians is that our Aborigines were never actually classed as slaves, they were classed as less than that. They were classed as Flora and Fauna up until 1965... so its a really hard one to get through, and build shrines for... though Im hoping we will.
