Thanks James for the donation and dog hugs yesterday. You and Jasmine are the only volunteers who come enough that I can let every dog loose including some of our mental ones who were too vicious to adopt out. I never wanted anyones face chomped so they sue us and take our home. So nice to see the problem kids hugging others, ones like Dukie, or even ones who had major biting issues. Dukie was a very angry dog when he arrived and he sat there hugging you yesterday to your surprise. That did not surprise me one bit to see Duke being so happy and mellow. Many of those biters we had took at least a year to settle down and trust people. So it makes me smile to see a non-biting happy wiener hug people when they came in here very vicious and beyond nasty. Now those same dogs help me retrain the newbie wieners we get into the rescue too. I have decided years ago any animal is always redeemable if folks will allow them to be who they are and just love them in spite of being naughty or nasty. The dogs always grow up or learn to trust people enough to be great dogs even with past abuse, etc. If you have a problem dog child in your home right now please think years not weeks or even months and never give up on them. Your problem dogs will be at least a source of entertainment while being naughty and please keep them so we do not need to retrain and place them. Many of my fondest memories in dogs were always naughty ones who were always doing something that made me laugh. Sweet ones are boring to us now. LOL.
