Thanks James for the invite. I am the president of a photography group called the North Georgia Photography Club. We have monthly meetings at the University of North Georgia campus and go on photography outings. James asked me to post this outing scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd at 10:00pm: UNG - North Georgia Astronomical Observatory - Night Shoot The North Georgia Astronomical Observatory is an observatory associated with UNG. It serves students as well as the general public. ung.edu/observatory/ We will be taking shots of the night sky and the telescope at the observatory is open to the public for viewing. They will usually come out and tell us when they have something interesting to see in the telescope. The driveway to the observatory is not clearly marked. The road sign says Day Drive but it is better to use the GPS address of 3000 Dawsonville Hwy, Dahlonega, GA. If the yellow gate is open - they are open. Weather conditions are very important of course so check their Facebook page (below) or call the status line: 706-864-8642. Right now conditions look good for Saturday night. https://facebook/pages/North-Georgia-Astronomical-Observatory/251368731652211 Park in the parking area and walk up to the far side of the observatory. That is most likely where will will be set up. Tripod legs can be hard to see in the dark so step carefully. Charge: Free Recommend: chairs, drinks, bug spray and a flashlight with a red filter. The less light - the better. See you there! Our photography group page is: https://facebook/groups/northgeorgiaphotographyclub/
